Flashback Friday

Aquí Marina para contaros hoy lo que me gustaban a mi las Spice!! Así que, para inaugurar estos Flashback Fridays no se me ocurría nadie mejor para tal honor. Qué horteras de bolera eran... no hace falta repetir mi horterismo innato, así que creo que os podéis imaginar que para mi siguen siendo un icono de estilo!!!! Siempre adaptado a la actualidad, que tampoco es cuestión de salir a la calle y que a una la confundan con Pikachu.

You have no idea how much I loved Spice Girls!! So I couldn´t think of a better way to start this Flashback Friday section than with them and their marvellous tacky style. There´s no need to remind you all that I´m Kitsch and tacky like no other so, to me, they´re still a style reference!! Always wearing it like a normal person from 2013 would do it, I don´t want to be mistaken with Pikachu on the street.

Como todas, yo también jugué a ser las Spice Girls con mis amigas en el recreo (nuestra pasión era tal que, si no teníamos radiocasette, nos poníamos a cantar ahí... a pelo!) y, sin duda, eso es lo que nos ha mantenido unidas hasta el día de hoy unos 17 años más tarde. El habernos visto en tales condiciones unas a otras une una barbaridad!! 

Por si os quedaba alguna duda al respecto de su estatus indiscutible de iconos de moda, os voy a demostrar que por muy horteras que fueran, que lo eran, su influencia se deja ver hasta hoy. Y principalmente porque me encantan, por si acaso no se había notado.

When I was younger I always imagined with my friends that we were the Spice Girls. So at school break we sang all their songs while we danced around like chickens with no heads. I´m sure that´s what made us stick together all this time (around 17 years this far), if you see each other at your lowest that creates an unbreakeable bond!!

If you have any doubt left about Spice Girls FASHION ICON status, I´m gonna show you that, even if they were the most tacky people of Brittain,(let´s be honest, they probably were) their influence is still around us. And just because I still love them.

Estos zapatos de Prada estéticamente tienden más hacia las creepers pero no puedo evitar ver cierta relación. 

Se que los zapatos Buffalo no son aptos para todo el mundo pero debo reconocer que yo, en su momento (hace unos cuantos años) me los compré y pude evitar que mi madre me los tirara....y todavía los tengo!!! Todavía no me los he puesto porque pesan una jartá pero algún día los sacaré a pasear.

I know Prada shoes are aesthetically closer to Creepers than Buffalo´s but I can´t help but seeing some connection.

Buffalo shoes are may be not for everybody but, I must confess that, I bought them several years ago and somehow I manage for my mom not to throw them away so I still have them!!!! I haven´t worn them yet because they´re a bit heavy but I´m eager to take them for a walk.

Es estilo más adaptado actualmente ha sido el look sporty de Mel C. Si os fijáis en los distintos streetsyles os vais a hartar de ver sneakers (Balenciaga, Michael Kors, Jeremy Scott o Kazuky se están lanzando a ello). Las sudaderas también han tenido su momento de esplendor con Kenzo o Balenciaga como ya os mostramos en esta ENTRADA y los pantalones de chandal no gozan de tanta popularidad desde Madonna en sus años mozos. 

Sporty Spice style has been copy a lot for fashionistas all around the world lately. Sneakers are the trend of the moment. If you take a look at some of the streetstyle pages you´ll see them everywhere (Balenciaga, Michael Kors, Jeremy Scott or Kazuki among other are starting to design them too). On the other hand sweatshirts have had their 15 minutes of fame thanks to Kenzo or Balenciaga as we told you in this POST and sweatshirt pants haven´t been so popular since Madonna circa 1990.

Hola, aquí Miriam!

Como ya sabéis nosotras amamos London y no podíamos pasar por alto su semana de la moda. Nos entusiasma el ritmo y la manera de entender la moda de esta fashion week, así que por nosotoras estaríamos semanas hablando de sus diseñadores y propuestas pero hemos decidido hacer un resumen con las tendencias que más nos han gustado. Nuestra guía para éste resumen de la moda londinense será la tendencia B&N.
Nos hemos dado cuenta que nuestra labor como cool  hunter esta siendo excelente y nos encanta ver, tanto en pasarela como en la calle, que nuestras predicciones se están haciendo realidad!! Eso es que vamos por el buen camino!

As you already know we love London so we couldn´t ignore their fashion week!! We love the aesthetic taste and the way they understand fashion so we could spend weeks and weeks talking about the designers and their collections, but we´ve decided to do a short version of it with the trends that we liked the most. Our guide through this fashion week it´s gonna be black and white combo.
We´ve realised that our Cool-Hunting radar is working really fiine and we´re delighted to see that both, on the runway and on the street, our predictions are becoming a fact! It seems we´re on the right track.
  

El blanco y negro evoluciona como toda tendencia y ya no solo importa el color, nos toca arriesgar con los cortes de la ropa y los volúmenes. 

Black and white combination evolves and it´s not just about those colors anymore. Cuts and volume are becoming really important in order to create an outfit more dimensional.

¡¡¡¡¡¡ VIVAN LOS ESTAMPADOS  !!!!

Las prendas cogen carácter, los estampados que tuvieron su momento de esplendor en la etapa "sudadera to the power", ahora se instalan como tendencia en cualquier prenda dándola  carácter y personalidad. Son perfectos para la combinación blanco y negro porque aportan más texura y hacen que el outfit no sea tan "plano".

HOORAY FOR PRINTS!!!

Print fever was at its best during the period of this century known as "sweatshirt to the power" but now, they have found their way into the whole wardrobe to give more character and personality to our looks. They´re perfect for this black and white combination we´re talking about because they provide with texture making the outfit a lot less flat.

Siempre tenemos que prestar atención a nuestros complementos, pues estos nos darán el toque final que necesitamos. Un outfit puede cambiar radicalmente en función de los complementos que se utilicen.

Accesories have the ability of making our style unique. They can even "break" the look making it more interesting thanks to that little twist.
We always have to be aware of accesories, they will give us that last touch we were looking for. One outfit can be completely different just by changing the accesories

  En esta semana de la moda las calle de London, se llenaron de mas estilo que nunca! Quizá faltó un poco de horterismo de bolera para nuestro gusto... ¿dónde están esas reminiscencias kitsch ochenteras que tanto nos gustan y a las que nos tenían mal acostumbradas? Aún así, se han visto looks muy interesantes.

At this london fashion week the streets were full of fashionistas that wore their best outfits! At this point we want to say that we missed a little bit more of "kitchsness".... Where are all those eighties totally kitsch reminiscences that we adore???? Anyway, there were some very interesting outfits.

MBFWM day 1. Maya Hansen

Hoy os dejamos con uno de nuestros favoritos del primer día: La colección de Maya Hansen "EDELWEISS".

Tuvimos la oportunidad de poder ver el desfile en directo y tenemos que decir que salimos encantadas, no solo por su puesta en escena, sino también por todos los pequeños detalles que fuimos viendo a lo largo de la colección. Esos detalles son los que aportan mayor calidad, además de dejar entrever el gran trabajo que hay detrás de estás creaciones. En esta colección queremos destacar dos partes bien diferenciadas para nosotras: una parte mas aristocrática y palaciega  y, por otro lado, una parte con reminiscencias alpinas en un pequeño homenaje de Maya.

Today we wanna show you Maya Hansen´s collection "EDELWEISS".

We were lucky enough to watch live the fashion show and we must say we loved the staging and the great quality and attention to detail of it. Those details are what give excellence to this collection and let us see, in a subtle way, all the work that exist behind each piece. We´d like to stand out to inspirations:  An aristocratic and courtier vibe and, on the other hand, a little Alps reminiscence.

En la parte mas aristócrata de la colección aparecen lujosos estampados de clara inspiración eclesiástica que recuerdan a cúpulas y grandes vidrieras. Junto con el ambiente en la pasarela, presidida por una majestuosa cabeza de muflón, había cierto rollo espiritual que se hacía totalmente terrenal conforme iban desfilando las modelos.

Nos entusiasmó la riqueza de las telas y, sobre todo, las botas. Una vez más sale a relucir nuestra obsesión (un poco preocupante a estas alturas) con los zapatos pero, no podéis negarnos que estas botas interminables con cierto aire rockero no son increíbles. Entendemos que nuestra visión sobre zapatos no es objetiva porque tenemos una clara enfermedad que nos afecta el juicio y nos hace ver zapatos que gritan nuestro nombre, pero En serio....son flipantes!

That aristocratic vibe stands in luxurious prints inspired by domes and stained glass windows very ecclesiastical.

One can also see the aristocracy of it on those rich fabrics and, of course, those marvellous boots. We know, once again our obsession (quite out of control and a little bit disturbing right now) with shoes, but you cannot say that those endless boots with a certain rocker look ain´t amazing.

Y  por otro lado tenemos los Alpes. Esta parte de su inspiración no solo era visible en las prendas de su colección , también se apreciaba  en los peinados que Beatriz de Matallana se curró como la que más en el backstage. En nuestro facebook, de hecho, tenemos una foto increíble de Beatriz trabajando en backstage estos peinados tan originales. (Podéis verla AQUÍ)

En la fotografía de arriba podemos ver que no eramos las únicas que no perdíamos detalle del desfile. A la derecha de la imagen podemos ver a la gran Cuca Solana muy atenta a la colección de Maya Hansen.

On the other hand here we are Alps. This inspiration no only was present in the garments themselves loaded with fur, leather and kinda tyrolean details, but also in the hairdos. Beatriz Matallana was who made those intricate and marvellous hairdos. In our facebook we have an incredible shoot of Matallana at Maya Hansen´s backstage doing one of this hairdos (U can see it HERE)

Una de las cosas que nos llamo la atención, fue el empleo de lana, porque no nos sonaba que Maya Hansen  hubiese empleado ese material con anterioridad. Por lo menos no es un material que asociáramos con sus ya más que famosos corsés pero, podemos decir que nos ha gustado muchísimo el resultado. El juego de trenzado en la espalda nos parece visualmente muy atractivo y tiene un toque "edgy" que nos recuerda a una columna vertebral y le aporta algo de rudeza a este tejido tan blando dándole más fuerza todavía al look.

On of the thing that had our attention was the use of wool because we didn´t recall that Maya Hansen had used that fabric before. But we can gladly say that we loved the final result of it and that braided details on some of the looks made the collection much more visualy appealing.

El cierre del desfile fue emocionante y  pudimos escuchar a más de un asistente exclamaciones de asombro.
Para poneros en situación: Las luces se apagaron. La cabeza de muflón que presidía la pasarela quedó levemente iluminada. Parecía el final del desfile.... y de repente se encienden las luces y aparece esta preciosidad cubierta en Swarosky elements. Nuestra mandíbula toco el suelo...

The last look of the show was really exciting and we could listen people "wooooows" all over the place.
To set you up: Lights went down. The giant bighorn sheep head that lead the runway was lightly illuminated. It looked like the end of the show....and then, the lights went up and this absolute wonder appeared. Our jaws thouched the ground...

Trend Hunting #5. Ghetto Nailz

Estamos apunto de comenzar la semana de la moda en Madrid  y por ello os traemos la tendencia mas calentita del momento. Las uñas han pasado a un primerísimo plano de nuestros look  y no vale cualquier cosa, ya quedo atrás las uñas monocromas, la manicura francesa ...... Ahora hay que ser originales y construir verdaderas obras de arte 

Esta tendencia esta cogiendo cada vez mas fuerza en las pasarela, ya no es estaño ver beauties en los que las modelos nos muestran sus uñas.

Madrid Fashion Week starts tomorrow and that´s why we´ve decided to show you the lastest trend of the moment: Nail art!! Weird and extreme manicures are almost the main "thing" of an outfit... long gone are those days of monocromatic or frenc manicure....It´s time to be original and unique.
This trend has arrived to runway shows, it´s not unsuall seen beauties in which nail art is the most important.

Pero esta tendencia no está solo en las pasarelas, sino que las famosas no se han podido resistir. Incluso  para muchas, como Rihanna, las uñas son en cierto modo su seña de identidad. De hecho, lo más comentado de la alfombra roja de esta edición de los Globos de Oro fue la manicura de Zoey Deschanel. Esto demuestra que no es una tendencia solo para las más extravagantes como Gaga o Rihanna sino que puede ser también el contrapunto perfecto a un maravilloso vestido de Oscar de la Renta.

This trend is not only in fashion shows, celebrities everywhere have succumbed to it too. For some of them, as Rihanna or Gaga, Nail art has become kind of an identity simbol. In fact, nail art of Zoey Deschanel at the Golden Globes red carpet was sort of trending topic among fashion magazines, showing that it can work with a sophisticated and elegant outfit, as the marvellous Oscar de la Renta gown that she wore.

Zoey ya es una habitual de las manicuras originales y el año pasado, también en la alfombra roja de los Golden Globes, decidió combinar un vestido de Prada con una manicura con mini smokings. 

This nail art red carpet-customized has been a thing for Zoey in the last two years, as the last year´s Golden Globes she rocked a tuxedo nails along with her stunning Prada.

Esta no es una tendencia femenina los hombres no se quedan atrás.

But don´t think for one minute that this nail trend is for girls only. Men can make them work too!

A estas alturas del post sabemos que estaréis pidiendo cita en cualquier lado e investigando como locas para poder haceros estas uñas tan estupendas.
