Fashion News #1. YSL and Hedi Slimane

Hoy quería comentar el cambio de imagen y de logo que se ha producido en Yves Saint Laurent. Como ya sabréis se ha producido un cambio en la dirección creativa de la firma y Hedi Slimane ha pasado a ocupar ese puesto. Asumo que quieren renovar la imagen de la marca y darle un toque más juvenil, por eso la elección de Slimane, además querrán romper un poco la línea dibujada por Yves Saint Laurent, ya que, intentar igualar su "savoir faire" es imposible!!

Confieso que Yves Saint Laurent es mi debilidad... Estuve en la exposición que se celebró en Madrid sobre su trabajo a lo largo de toda su carrera y lo menos que puedo decir es que era un GENIO. Con todos los demonios que ello conlleva....

Today I´ve read in Vogue that the image of YSL is gonna change. As you all know, a few months ago the brand announced that Hedi Slimane was gonna be the new creative director. I guess YSL is trying to change the target of the brand and maybe trying to connet with the new generation. It´s a trully great brand (Yves released women and made them felt powerfull and femenin at the same time) but young people may not known all his history and brand itself doesn´t mean so much as for previous generations. I guess that is why they´ve choosen Slimane too. It´s a nonsense try to do what Yves did at his time, so better of a new start keeping the essence of this great "maison".

Yves is one of my greatest weakness... I was lucky enough to visit an exhibition about his career and the least I can say is that he was a GENIUS, with all the good and bad that it takes...

Hedi Slimane

Por otro lado adoro a Slimane y su trabajo para Dior Homme me parece impecable. De hecho, Karl Lagerfeld se propuso adelgazar todos esos kilos solo para poder meterse en uno de los trajes que Hedi Slimane ideó para los hombres de Dior. Fue el Tom Ford de Dior Homme!

Además admiro su trabajo como fotógrafo y a nivel creativo me parece un tipo bastante interesante. No solo diseña sino que también está vinculado con la fotografía, la música y esa interdisciplinariedad me resulta muy atractiva, y creo que tiene un poco de la rebeldía e incomprensión de Yves...

 En definitiva, estoy deseando ya ver la colección de Slimane para YSL (Saint Laurent a partir de ahora) porque estoy convencida que no defraudará. ¿QUÉ OPINAIS VOSOTROS? 

On the other hand I love Slimane really bad and his work as a creative director for Dior Homme was exquisit. In fact, the great and famous Karl Lagerfeld lost tons of weight just to fit in one Slimane´s suits...

As well I admire his work as a photographer. Creatively his a very very interesting guy to me, he inspires me. He´s a photographer, designer, he´s into music too and that kind of multitasking feels really appealing to me... and I think he´s a little bit traillblazer and pioneer as Yves was...

So I´m dying to see what he has done for YSL (Saint Laurent from now on) because I´m sure it´s gonna be pretty great!  WHAT DO YO THINK???
